It depends on what you are talking about! For example, if you were looking at aspects of multi-modal talk you could talk about how aspects of spoken language are reflected in written word. This is influenced further by changes in technology. Remember, you’d need to quote from your transcripts. You could take a word like LOL. This started as an initialism in order to express a lot, but also save the writer time. It also cost money to send texts so the writer is limited to a certain number of characters per text. However, over time, LOL has become a word in its own right, and is becoming part of the vernacular, certainly part of the teen sociolect. You could then comment on the issues surrounding this such as teenagers not being able to spell or construct written word that is grammatically correct because of multi-modal language.
