hi miss,
ReplyDeletefor the conclusion it asks if theres any social or historical views and why the characters are presented in this way?
could you help me please

Yes I can help. Macbeth's tragic downfall could be presented in such a way to show the audience the danger of witchcraft. This could be because James I was interested and concerned with witches. Macbeth presented as regretful, ambitious, easily influenced or emotionally fragile all point to him having done something bad: something bad must happen to him for his crimes. This could be because he has gone against god. He has committed regicide (killed a King) and kings were chosen by god. They were thought to speak the word of god on Earth. By killing a king, Macbeth has gone against the natural order of society; he has gone against god. Frankenstein can also be seen to go against god. He creates life and this again must end badly. Progreess in sceince at the time of the book, early 1800s, made people scared about waht advances in Science could lead to. Frankenstein is presented as good man who is ambitious, but doesn't think through what will happen after his discovery. There are references to the creation of mankind; the creature reads Paradise lost and calls himself Frankenstein's 'Adam'. Frankenstein's death and the destruction of people he loves could warn of the danger of going against god. The subtitle of the Modern Prometheus also signals the danger of going against god(s). Prometheus liked mankind so gave them fire; he ended up for all eternity having his liver pecked out by birds for going against them. The presentation of both characters show the danger of going against god.
ReplyDeleteHope that helps - you don't have to do all of this, but it's lots of good ideas!
